Gender-appropriate and inclusive: language and imagery
Language is dynamic and subject to constant change. On the one hand, it picks up on changes in society and reflects them; on the other hand, perceptions and realities are shaped by the use of language itself.
As a modern educational institution, we see it as our task to deal consciously with language and figurative language and to use them in such a way that all persons are included and addressed in an appreciative manner. The Guideline "Gender-appropriate and inclusive: Language and visual language of diversity at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology" creates both an orientation aid for everyday life and binding force for official internal and external communication.
The guideline was adopted by the KIT Senate and is intended to contribute to establishing an open culture of welcome and feedback in order to live and further promote equal opportunities and diversity at KIT through lively and appreciative communication.
