Are you interested in bridging the gap between mathematical sciences on the one side and natural sciences, engineering and economics on the other side?

In this unique doctoral program, you will be able to conduct an interdisciplinary research project that revolves around computational methods such as mathematical models, simulation methods and data science techniques, all the while building bridges between mathematical sciences and an applied discipline.

Addressing global challenges, the school provides a wide variety of topics, from logic in autonomous cyber-physical systems to machine learning in Earth System models.

You will have one supervisor from the mathematical sciences and one from the applied discipline. You will be part of a dynamic community and participate in the school’s interdisciplinary training program, including hands-on training in small groups, summer schools, networking events and hackathons/datathons.

Das Scientific Computing Center ist das Informationstechnologie-Zentrum des KIT.

Die Abteilung IT-Sicherheit, Client- und Servicemanagement (ICSM) betreibt die Arbeitsplatzendgeräte für die Verwaltungseinrichtungen des KIT und stellt einen sicheren und störungsarmen Betrieb sicher.

Zu Ihren Tätigkeiten gehören:

• Die selbständige Installation und die Gewährleistung des Betriebs der IT-Endgeräte
• Erstellung von Softwarepaketen zur Verteilung auf den IT-Arbeitsplatzsystemen
• Eigenständiger Betrieb von Serverinfrastruktur zur Softwareverteilung
• Bearbeitung von Benutzeranfragen über das Ticketsystem und Telefon

Personal qualification

Sie bringen mit:

• Abgeschlossene IT-spezifische Ausbildung Fachinformatiker oder vergleichbar (Informationstechniker, Techniker mit IT-Affinität und Kenntnissen)
• Sehr gute Kenntnisse in Windows, Apple und Android sowie im Clientmanagement allgemein
• Fundiertes Know-how in Netzwerktechniken und IT-Infrastrukturdienste
• Sehr gute Kenntnisse in der Nutzung und Betreuung von Administrationstools im Kontext des Client-Supports
• Erfahrung im Umgang Powershell oder vergleichbaren Skriptsprachen

Für die neue Forschungsgruppe Exascale Algorithm Engineering werden Sie folgende Aufgaben bearbeiten:

• Unterstützung bei Personalvorgängen für Hiwis und Wissenschaftliches Personal
• (Projekt)controlling für zugewiesene Budget in Abstimmung mit Abteilungsleitung inkl. Projektverfolgung
• Unterstützung bei (Zwischen-)Berichten und Verwendungsnachweise
• Unterstützung bei der Lehrorganisation: Erstellung und Pflege der Lehr- und Modulbeschreibungen im Campus Management System
• Allgemeine Sekretariatsaufgaben

Personal qualification

Sie bringen mit:

• Abgeschlossene kaufmännische Ausbildung z. B. Kaufleute für Büromanagement und Industriekaufleute oder vergleichbare kaufmännische Ausbildung
• Sehr gute Kenntnisse in der allgemeinen Büroorganisation (Terminkoordination, Anrufselektion, Wiedervorlagen, Textverarbeitung) setzen wir voraus
• Sehr gute Kenntnisse im Umgang mit den gängigen MS-Office Paketen sind zwingend notwendig, Kenntnisse in SAP BW sind von Vorteil
• Berufserfahrung im allgemeinen Sekretariat im Forschungsumfeld ist wünschenswert
• Kenntnisse in den Arbeitsabläufen mit anderen Bereichen (z. b. Einkauf, Personal, Forschungsförderung) des KIT sind wünschenswert aber nicht zwingend notwendig

Research Software Engineer (f/m/d) for HPC

The Scientific Computing Center is the Information Technology Center of KIT.

• Develop sustainable research software in close collaboration with domain researchers
• Participate in diverse research projects to enhance their software development processes
• Enable high-performance computing features in existing research software, such as performance optimizations or hardware portability
• Improve research software running on HPC cluster operated in the state of Baden-Württemberg
• Build strong communities with domain researchers, as well as national and international research software engineers
• Take part in the full research cycle including grant application and publishing

Personal qualification

Job requirements:

• You hold a completed university degree (master's level) in a STEM subject. A completed doctorate is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Strong knowledge in a programming language relevant to HPC, such as Python, C, C++, or FORTRAN
• Strong knowledge of good software development practice, such as version control, documentation, CI/CD etc.
• Experience with developing for heterogeneous and distributed systems and their relevant technologies, such as MPI, OpenMP, CUDA, ROCm, or SYCL
• Experience using Linux-based HPC clusters
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work in teams and communicate progress
